This September, London will play host to a charity event rarely seen in the watch world. Rolex, through the auction house Phillips, is presenting a one-of-a-kind sale titled “The Four Seasons,” releasing in one go four unique Daytona themed around spring, summer, autumn, and winter, each lavishly set with rare gemstones. Proceeds from the Rolex Four Seasons Daytona auction will be split evenly between two foundations co-founded by tennis great Roger Federer and Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, supporting children’s education and environmental conservation.
In fact, these four season-inspired Rolex Four Seasons Daytona made their first appearance as early as Watches & Wonders 2026, though Rolex made no fanfare of it at the time, quietly laying the groundwork for this September’s auction instead. Proceeds will be divided equally between the Federer Foundation and Re:wild. The former, founded by Roger Federer, has long focused on children’s education initiatives across Africa and Switzerland; the latter, spearheaded by Leonardo DiCaprio, is dedicated to global ecosystem conservation and biodiversity protection. With these two celebrities joining forces with Rolex across the worlds of sport and film, the significance of this auction reaches well beyond a simple collector’s transaction.
The watch representing spring is housed in an 18k white gold case, its bezel set with 36 trapeze-cut purple sapphires, while the dial is crafted from green chalcedony, capturing the fresh, verdant awakening of spring. The chronograph subdials are accented with lepidolite, echoing the purple tones of the bezel and completing a layered palette that feels full of springtime vitality.
The summer edition switches to an 18k rose gold case, its bezel encircled by 36 trapeze-cut pink sapphires, paired with a dial in vivid turquoise that evokes the air of a Mediterranean getaway. The chronograph subdials are set with rubies, injecting a warm, passionate accent that echoes the intense sunlight of high summer.
The autumn edition is fashioned from an 18k yellow gold case, its bezel set with 36 trapeze-cut green tourmalines, while the dial is crafted from boulder opal sourced from Australia, its natural texture as varied and painterly as falling autumn leaves. The chronograph subdials are further accented with green chalcedony, complementing the yellow gold case to give off a mature, understated autumnal character.
The winter edition is, without question, the coolest and most striking of the four, crafted in 950 platinum with a bezel set with 36 sapphires in a graduated gradient from blue to violet-red. The dial is rendered in blue opal, with the chronograph subdials set off by lapis lazuli, its deep blue tones evoking a winter night sky frozen in place.
Although neither Rolex nor the auction house has yet disclosed an official estimate for the four Daytona, the market widely expects that their one-of-a-kind status, the exceptional gem-setting craftsmanship on display, and the attention that a charity auction naturally draws will very likely see the final hammer price break records for auctions of this kind.
