[Celebrity Collector] Lewis Hamilton Wins in Barcelona! Wears the Richard Mille RM43-01 on the Podium

At the 2026 F1 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, 41-year-old Lewis Hamilton finally embraced a historic moment. Crossing the finish line in perfect form, he secured his first victory since joining Scuderia Ferrari, marking the 106th win of his career. As he stood on the highest step of the podium, hoisting the championship trophy and receiving the champagne shower, the Richard Mille RM43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph on his wrist instantly became the visual focal point for watch enthusiasts worldwide.

Track temperatures soaring to 50°C in Barcelona caused rapid tire degradation. While rivals stubbornly stuck to the traditional “two-stop” strategy, Ferrari decisively switched Hamilton to a flexible “three-stop” tactic. Armed with fresh tires, his pace exploded, and he perfectly seized the golden “Virtual Safety Car” window to pit, successfully overtaking his rivals to claim the lead. Compared to the Mercedes duo, who both retired late in the race due to infighting, the highly experienced Hamilton relied on his calm situational awareness and precise tire management. He ultimately won the championship with an overwhelming 19.5-second lead, breaking Mercedes’ winning streak this season.

The Richard Mille RM43-01 Ferrari watch accompanying Hamilton on the podium is the masterpiece of the brand’s second collaboration with Ferrari. Unlike their first joint release, the RM UP-01, which pursued extreme thinness, the RM43-01 opted to combine two high complications: an off-center tourbillon and a split-seconds chronograph. Its design draws inspiration from the aerodynamic DNA of top-tier supercars like the Ferrari 812 Competizione and SF90 Stradale, brimming with Ferrari’s signature aesthetic. The brand went a step further by laser-engraving Ferrari’s iconic “Cavallino” (Prancing Horse) emblem at the 8 o’clock position on the titanium baseplate, symbolizing their deep partnership. The RM43-01 is available in two versions: Grade 5 Titanium and Carbon TPT®, each limited to 75 pieces. On the day of his victory, Hamilton wore the highly athletic Carbon TPT® version on his wrist.

Measuring 42.9 x 51.2 mm, the RM43-01 is powered by the RM43-01 manual-winding movement, the result of three years of R&D co-developed with their long-term partner, the Audemars Piguet Le Locle movement manufacture. It seamlessly merges two top-tier complications: the off-center tourbillon and the split-seconds chronograph. The movement’s bridges are primarily crafted from Grade 5 titanium, with certain components utilizing machined Carbon TPT®. The iconic “X” cross-structure on the bridges takes direct inspiration from the architecture of a Ferrari engine, significantly enhancing the movement’s 3D visual depth. The seconds display ingeniously uses a five-spoke wheel corresponding to 12-second intervals, creating an intense sense of dynamic beauty. Furthermore, the dial is equipped with a 30-minute chronograph register, a torque indicator, and a power reserve display—reminiscent of a supercar dashboard—allowing the wearer to monitor the movement’s optimal power output at all times.
